Bitcoin approached the $80,000 mark on Monday as broad-based buying lifted major cryptocurrencies and smaller altcoins alike, extending a market recovery that has gained momentum over the past two trading sessions.
Bitcoin traded at $79,802.72 after gaining 2.9%, with $56.44 billion in volume and a market capitalization of $1.60 trillion The move came a day after the leading cryptocurrency held above $77,000, suggesting that demand has strengthened across global markets
Solana delivered the strongest performance among major cryptocurrencies, climbing 6% to trade slightly above the $100 level. Daily trading volume reached $7.35 billion, while its market capitalization increased to $58.35 billion. The rally marked a notable acceleration from the previous session, when Solana had advanced just 1.9% to $94.57.
Ethereum followed the broader direction with a 1% increase, lifting its market price to $2,480.25. The second-largest cryptocurrency generated $20.62 billion in trading volume and retained a market capitalization of $299.28 billion. The modest gain came after Ethereum had outperformed Bitcoin’s daily percentage move in the prior session, climbing 3% to $2,456.64.
BNB gained 0.9% to $706.08, supported by $1.27 billion in trading volume and a $94.01 billion valuation. The token had approached the $700 level a day earlier, when it rose 2.5% to $699.82. XRP added 0.2% to reach $1.49, generating $5.74 billion in volume and maintaining a $93.29 billion market capitalization.
Hyperliquid advanced 1.7% to $80.80, building on the prior session’s 2.7% gain that had taken it to $79.73. Zcash increased 1.4% to change hands at $849.78, following an 8.8% surge to $843.07 in the previous session, when it led established cryptocurrencies with $1.37 billion in trading volume.
Smaller tokens also attracted substantial buying interest, with DGrid AI dominating the gainers list after surging 88.8% to $0.7133, supported by $123.02 million in trading volume. Cash Cat followed with a 49.6% increase to $0.2127, while trading volume reached approximately $82.70 million.
GEKKO climbed 48.2% to $0.068977, although its limited $74,466 volume suggested weaker participation behind the increase. MetaDAO gained 39.2% to trade at $6.82, accompanied by more than $33.44 million in daily trading activity.
Ontology Gas rose 37.4% to $0.0991, supported by a stronger trading volume of $57.01 million. Gigachad advanced 29.2% to $0.003062, while Pons climbed 25.7% to reach $0.088. The token had surged 75% to $0.07022 in the previous session, when its trading volume reached $18.51 million. Amp completed the leading group with a 25.1% increase, bringing its market price to $0.0005234.
Other smaller tokens that had posted outsized gains in the prior session included Dog (Bitcoin), which jumped 52.1% to $0.001135, and Purr, which rose 50.1% to $0.1315. StonkBroker gained 46.8% to $0.01934, while APEX advanced 35.2% to $0.3076. UnifAI Network rose 33.7% to $0.3337, and Spark added 31.8%.
The coordinated gains across established cryptocurrencies and smaller tokens reflected broader demand, although trading volumes varied considerably among assets. Bitcoin’s stability near the $80,000 threshold appeared to support wider market participation, with investors rotating into altcoins while maintaining exposure to the market leader.
Dogecoin, which had added 2.9% to $0.09171 in the prior session with $914.39 million in volume, and TRON, which had recorded a smaller 0.7% increase to $0.3442, were not among the leading movers in the latest measured period, underscoring the selective nature of the rally.
