Ledger said its investigation into a German user’s claim of finding an unauthorized hardware implant, described as a cellular or LTE module, in a wallet device bought at a retail store found no signs of tampering in any devices examined.
The company said it retrieved products from retailers and distributors across Germany and carried out a related investigation. It also inspected products at the store mentioned in the report, but found no evidence of tampering in any device. Ledger added no financial losses tied to malicious hardware inserted into devices have been reported anywhere in Europe.
Ledger said it has not yet directly examined the device shown in photos and videos published online and asked the owner to send it to its security team for analysis. It added the findings will be disclosed once confirmed.
