Ethereum has reached a major supply milestone: roughly <strong>35% of ETH is now staked, even as the cryptocurrency struggles to turn increasingly tight supply conditions into sustained price gains.

Ethereum.org currently shows more than 43 million ETH staked. Meanwhile, ETH has been attempting to recover after recently breaking below the important $2,400 level, a move that put the market’s short-term bullish structure under pressure.

The divergence is striking. More ETH is being committed to staking while exchange balances have also been shrinking, yet buyers have not been strong enough to produce a decisive breakout.

More Than 43 Million ETH Is Now Staked

Ethereum’s official staking data shows more than 43 million ETH committed to securing the proof-of-stake network.

Validators stake ETH to participate in transaction validation and receive rewards. The result is that a significant share of Ethereum’s total supply is less immediately available for trading, although staked ETH is not permanently removed from circulation.

That supply dynamic has become increasingly important. Coinpaper recently examined whether Ethereum is running out of sellers as exchange reserves declined while the staking ratio continued climbing.

Coins leaving exchanges do not guarantee higher prices. They can move into staking, institutional custody or private wallets for many reasons. But declining exchange balances combined with more than one-third of ETH being staked can reduce the amount of supply immediately available if demand suddenly accelerates.

    Why Isn’t Ethereum Rising Faster?

The problem is the other side of the equation: demand.

ETH recently fell below $2,400 as regulatory uncertainty and ETF outflows weighed on the broader crypto market.

That marked a sharp reversal from only days earlier, when ETH was challenging $2,600 and traders were again considering whether $3,000 could return to the picture.

Institutional demand has also been inconsistent. Earlier this week, ETF money returned, including a roughly $121 million positive session, but the improvement was not enough to produce a sustained ETH breakout.

That helps explain why the 35% staking milestone should not automatically be interpreted as a bullish price signal.

Lower liquid supply becomes much more powerful when new demand is entering the market. Without that second ingredient, Ethereum can continue experiencing record staking participation while its price remains trapped in consolidation.

Can Tightening Supply Push ETH Back Toward $2,600?

The immediate Ethereum price prediction now depends on whether buyers can capitalize on the increasingly constrained supply backdrop.

ETH first needs to establish itself above the $2,400–$2,500 region. A convincing recovery could put $2,600 back into focus before traders reconsider larger upside targets.

There is already a more ambitious technical case. A recent bull-flag setup pointed toward approximately $3,050 if Ethereum can break out of its broader consolidation, although that target remains conditional rather than guaranteed.

For now, the staking milestone provides a different signal.

More than 43 million ETH is committed to the network, roughly 35% of supply is staked, and exchange balances have been declining. Those conditions can make Ethereum more sensitive to a future increase in demand because fewer coins are immediately available for trading.

But supply scarcity alone is not enough.

If ETF and spot demand strengthen while staking remains near record levels, the combination would improve ETH’s chances of reclaiming $2,600 and potentially challenging higher resistance. If demand remains weak, however, Ethereum’s record staking participation may continue to coexist with a price struggling to break out.
