Bitcoin surged above $66,500 for the first time since July, supported by fresh US crypto regulatory developments, renewed spot Bitcoin ETF inflows and a significant technical breakout. Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan described the latest developments as creating an increasingly bullish environment for Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market.

Bitcoin price surged past $68,000 late Wednesday as a break above crowded liquidation levels forced short sellers to buy back positions, turning a gradual recovery into a one-minute price spike of roughly 4%.

The largest altcoin, Ethereum ($ETH), is trading within the $1,903 range, with its daily volume reaching $4.58 billion. Also, the 24-hour trading range is between $1,867 and $1,903. The market has experienced $24.09 million in $ETH liquidations over the past 24 hours.
