Bitcoin’s recent price movement appears driven by a combination of a significant short squeeze on derivatives, positive US regulatory and macro-liquidity news, and improving institutional flows.
On August 19, the U.S. Treasury announced that starting September 9, it will at least double its long-end buybacks, and Bitcoin surged as much as 8.7%, reaching an intraday high of $69,749. Bitcoin’s biggest daily move since March 4 occurred not because of a cryptocurrency-related development, but due to a government announcement regarding debt management.
Bitcoin was in demand again after a strong Wednesday after-hours session, which saw it move from $64,000 to briefly touch $70,000 for the first time since June as investors returned to riskier assets.
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has decided to delist the ICON (ICX), Secret (SCRT), and Storj (STORJ) tokens from the spot market following recent asset reviews. According to the exchange’s statement, trading in all spot pairs for these assets will cease on September 3, 2026, at 06:00.
