The XRP community has been befuddled by the sudden activity of Ripple co-founder Arthur Britto on Elon Musk’s X social media platform.
Earlier this Monday, Britto published a cryptic post that contains a single emoji, which seemingly teases a surprise.
Some have assumed that the long-silent account could be potentially hacked, asking David Schwartz, chief technology officer at Ripple, to verify whether Britto was actually behind the post.
Britto, who joined Twitter all the way back in August 2011, has never posted on the social media platform. Still, his profile has more than 17,000 followers.

He co-created the XRP Ledger together with Schwartz and Jed McCaleb, and also co-founded Ripple (formerly OpenCoin) in 2012. Britto submitted the lines of code that generated 100 billion XRP tokens on June 2, 2012.
A recently leaked agreement says that Britto received 2% of the total supply of XRP (formerly “Ripple Credits”).
The enigmatic and elusive persona of the famous and influential inventor has been the subject of a lot of speculation. One conspiracy theory suggested that he was not even a real person.
As reported by U.Today, Schwartz previously described him as “intensely private.” In fact, there are public photos of Britto or public interviews with him.
Earlier this month, the Ripple CTO confirmed that he was still in contact with Britto.
Notably, Britto, who was previously engaged in video game design, also has a profile on MobyGames. He is credited with several games, such as Crypt of Medea (1984) and Armor Alley (1991).
