Stablecoin issuer Circle said on its official blog that it will allow its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol, or CCTP, to support ERC-20 tokens beyond USDC.
Under the change, token issuers can launch new tokens designed to be compatible with CCTP or connect existing ERC-20 tokens to enable transfers across multiple blockchains. The transfer model burns tokens on the source chain and mints the same amount on the destination chain. Circle also published guidance on how to implement the function on its Arc blockchain testnet.
