Y Combinator has published a report on crypto startups, forecasting broader tokenization of stablecoins and assets such as stocks, bonds, commodities and home ownership rights. For the next six months, the startup accelerator identified blockchain-based fundraising for the AI sector, dollar- and non-dollar stablecoins, stablecoin-based banks, real-world asset tokenization, trading platforms, AI agent trading and related API infrastructure as promising areas.
The report said blockchain and stablecoins could affect traditional stock exchanges and banking systems. It added that demand in the crypto applications market shifted over the past year from consumer-focused use cases to institutional use cases, while practical financial needs such as price-risk hedging and cross-border business-to-business fund transfers, rather than speculation, served as the main driver.
