Views were raised at a Democratic Party lawmakers’ general meeting in South Korea that cryptocurrency taxation scheduled to take effect in January next year should be delayed, Digital Asset reported. After the meeting at the National Assembly’s main building on Oct. 27, Democratic Party floor spokesperson Jeon Eun-su said in a back briefing that opinions were exchanged in favor of a delay, but no decision was made that day.
According to Jeon, Democratic Party lawmaker Ahn Do-geol argued at the meeting that it would make sense to first enact the Basic Digital Asset Act and then implement taxation alongside it. Jeon added that the party would gather more opinions before making a decision, with about 60 days left until implementation, and aims to reach a conclusion soon.
