As McDonald’s plans to bring back the limited-edition McRib sandwich at select U.S. stores on Oct. 27, talk that Bitcoin tends to rise when the McRib returns is drawing renewed attention, Bitcoin.com reported. Coinbase posted on X, “The McRib is coming back. Those who know, know,” while Kraken, HTX and OKX also shared related posts.
Bitcoin.com said BTC showed gains after McRib returns from 2019 to 2024, with relatively fast or large advances in 2020, 2021 and 2023 in particular. It added, however, that despite several past examples of price increases, it is difficult to view the McRib launch and BTC price movements as having a reliable correlation, describing the idea as closer to a superstition circulating in the crypto community.
