Wall Street investor Jordi Visser pushed back on Chamath Palihapitiya’s claim that Bitcoin could eventually be hacked and see its value fall to zero, calling the argument far-fetched, according to Stocktwits.
Stocktwits said Palihapitiya, a former Facebook executive, had argued earlier that Bitcoin would need stronger cryptography to maintain security, but internal divisions within the community would make that difficult to achieve. Visser said Bitcoin’s future security risks should be taken seriously, but there is still seven years to respond, and banks’ entry into the cryptocurrency market has created an economic incentive to address Bitcoin security issues quickly.
