Wu Blockchain operator Colin Wu said the cryptocurrency market has entered a prolonged period of stagnation marked by slowing innovation and fewer new participants, and he expects those conditions to persist.
In a post on X, Wu said the crypto market is unlikely to disappear, but it is also unlikely to see many new technologies or developments capable of drawing fresh investor interest. Wu added that most core technologies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, have largely already been implemented, while demand within the industry has also mostly been met. As regulatory scrutiny and control intensify, the market is finding it harder to expand outward, Wu said. He added that major blockchains and large exchanges are likely to continue posting solid results, but the number of new participants is unlikely to rise significantly.
