Bitcoin holdings among whales excluding exchange and mining pool addresses rose to around 3 million BTC recently from about 2.94 million BTC in late August, on-chain analyst MorenoDV said.
MorenoDV said whale BTC holdings increased by about 60,000 BTC in roughly a month and a half, the highest level seen this year. MorenoDV added the increase was concentrated from late September to early October and appeared after a price rebound had already begun, suggesting whales were more likely increasing positions during the rebound rather than calling the exact bottom. Rising whale holdings suggest they are absorbing supply entering the market, MorenoDV said, while adding that holdings growth alone does not confirm actual spot buying and that the key question is whether the uptrend in holdings will continue during any future price pullback.
According to CoinMarketCap, BTC was trading at $81,230.74, down 2.5%, at the time of writing.
