Hyperliquid co-founder Jeff Yan said U.S. regulators should apply oversight not to the Hyperliquid blockchain itself, but to financial companies that use it to run trading services. In a Bloomberg podcast interview, Yan said the entities that actually control trading are the operators that build services on the blockchain, and regulation should therefore apply to them. Yan added that Hyperliquid aims to develop into trading infrastructure that financial institutions can use, rather than an exchange competing with existing financial firms. Hyperliquid does not currently serve U.S. users, but Payward, Kraken’s parent company, plans to offer U.S. investors derivatives built on Hyperliquid technology through a regulated exchange.
