Kyrgyzstan’s government is ending operations of the state-backed stablecoin Gold Dollar (USDKG) and moving to liquidate its issuer and a state-run crypto exchange, Bitmedia reported. USDKG was launched in November 2025 as a stablecoin backed by physical gold and designed to maintain a one-to-one value with the U.S. dollar. The Kyrgyz government had initially planned to use USDKG for cross-border payments and keep it in operation through at least 2034.
