Cos, founder of blockchain security firm SlowMist, warned users about active phishing sites impersonating the web version of crypto social trading app FOMO.
Cos said the phishing sites prompt users to complete a fake bot-verification process, then persuade them to add malicious JavaScript code to the browser’s bookmarks. After victims click the bookmark two or three times, account details from FOMO sessions they had previously logged into are transmitted to the attackers, who can then immediately steal the cryptocurrency held in those accounts. Cos added SlowMist has already obtained related attack samples and wallet addresses linked to the attackers.
