Coinbase has obtained a derivatives clearing organization license from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, allowing it to clear fully collateralized futures, options on futures, and swaps in-house without using a third-party clearer, Odaily reported.
The approval could also advance the USDC-collateralized futures product partnership Coinbase announced with Nodal Clear in June last year. The CFTC, however, did not disclose the specific underlying assets or swap types Coinbase is permitted to clear.
