South Korea’s Jeonbuk Bank plans to launch a personal overseas remittance service for Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and the Philippines, in December through a partnership with Ripple.
The bank has been in talks with Ripple on overseas remittances since last year and signed a Ripple Payments agreement in August. Yoon Man-sik, a Jeonbuk Bank team leader, said at XRP Seoul 2026 that the bank is building a transaction system for personal and corporate overseas remittances, adding that it plans to roll out a corporate remittance service earlier once personal remittances gain traction. Yoon also said the bank is considering launching a stablecoin-based overseas remittance service in the first half of next year if legal frameworks for digital assets are put in place.
