CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju said BTC is likely to rise threefold to fivefold in the current bull cycle, rather than more than 10x as in the past, while any future bear market is also expected to be milder.
In a post on X, Ki said Bitcoin’s smaller market size and heavier reliance on retail investors previously left it more exposed to short-term speculative capital. As a result, sharp bull-market gains were often followed by declines of as much as 80%, Ki said. Ki added that as the BTC market has grown and institutional participation has expanded, volatility on both the upside and downside has eased.
Ki said market maturity may reduce the odds of the kind of explosive gains seen in earlier cycles, but it also lowers the risk of steep crashes. That, Ki said, could make the BTC market more suitable for long-term capital than for short-term investment. Over the long term, Ki added, if BTC develops into a stable asset used widely enough to function as a real currency, it could reshape the world in ways beyond imagination.
