Six Malaysian men were sentenced to prison for robbing about $3.9 million in assets, including cryptocurrency, during a raid on a poker game at an upscale home in Singapore, The Independent reported.
The group broke into the house in April 2024 carrying bladed weapons and baseball bats, tied up 11 victims, searched mobile phones for crypto apps and transferred assets from one victim’s account, according to the report. After fleeing to Malaysia, they cashed out part of the stolen cryptocurrency and split the proceeds. The court handed down prison terms ranging from seven years and eight months to 12 years and 11 months, and also ordered 24 strokes of the cane for defendants under 50. One accomplice remains at large.
