The XRP threshold for joining the top 10% of wallet holders keeps dropping even as the price falls, and the reason reveals something surprising about who actually controls the supply.

XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) traded around $1.39, after moving between $1.35 and $1.42 over the past week. At $1.39, the 2,120 XRP needed to rank in the top 10% of wallets is worth about $2,947, according to XRPScan’s rich list as of September 6, 2026.

The surprising part is how little XRP it now takes to reach that level. The top-10% threshold has been falling even as XRP is down 55.56% from a year ago. So, what does holding 2,120 XRP really mean, and why is the threshold getting lower?

How Much XRP Gets You Into the Top 10%, 5% and 1%

XRPScan’s September 6 ranking shows how much XRP you needed to hold to reach different points in the wallet rankings. The figures below use an XRP price of $1.39.

Percentile XRP Needed Value at $1.39
    Top 10% 2,120 $2,947
    Top 5% 7,438 $10,339
    Top 4% 10,000 $13,900
    Top 1% 44,500 $61,855

Holding 2,120 XRP puts a wallet in roughly the top 10% of XRP holders. To move into the top 5%, that amount rises to about 7,438 XRP, worth around $10,339 at $1.39.

The jump gets much bigger at10,000 XRP,which puts a holder in roughly the top 4%, while reaching the top 1% requires about 44,500 XRP, worth nearly $62,000 at the same price. In other words, doubling or tripling your XRP balance can move you up the rankings, but breaking into the top 1% requires a much larger holding.

The table also shows that the dollar cost rises quickly as you move up the rankings. The top 10% costs less than $3,000, the top 5% costs just over $10,000, and the top 1% costs more than $60,000.

If XRP reaches $1.40, the dollar values would rise slightly, but the XRP amounts needed for each percentile would stay the same.

Why the XRP Bar Dropped and What Wallet Rankings Really Mean

WhenXRPtraded between $0.30 and $0.50, the top 10% threshold was around 3,333 XRP, putting the entry cost at about $1,500. That threshold has since fallen, after several years, to about 2,120 XRP because the number of small wallets has grown faster than the number of large holders. Many new users open wallets and hold only a small amount of XRP, which pushes the threshold lower without changing the holdings of the biggest wallets.

Santiment’s March 2026 data shows how uneven the distribution is. About 5.66 million wallets, or 73% of all XRP addresses, hold fewer than 100 XRP. Only 32,054 wallets, or about 0.4%, hold more than 100,000 XRP, while these larger wallets control roughly 74% of the supply. This helps explain why the top 10% threshold can fall even as the number of XRP wallets keeps growing.

However, one person can control several wallets, while an exchange can hold XRP for millions of customers in just a few addresses. Some XRPL accounts also hold little more than the required reserve. That means a person with a hardware wallet, an exchange account, and an old backup wallet could appear as three separate wallets, while millions of exchange customers could appear as one address.

What 2,120 XRP Would Be Worth at Higher Prices

At $1.39, 2,120 XRP is worth about $2,947. The table below keeps the 2,120 XRP holding fixed and shows how its value changes at different XRP prices.

XRP Price Value of 2,120 XRP
    $1.39 $2,947
    $3.65 $7,738
    $5.00 $10,600
    $24.82 $52,618

AtXRP’s $3.65 cycle highin July 2025, the same 2,120 XRP would be worth about $7,738. At $5, the holding would cross $10,000, reaching $10,600. The biggest scenario is $24.82, where 2,120 XRP would be worth about $52,618.

The lower scenarios are easier to compare with XRP’s recent price history. XRP reached $1.66 on August 22, before pulling back to around $1.40. Reaching $3.65 would require XRP to more than double that high, while $5 would require an even bigger move. Nonetheless, both prices would turn a 2,120 XRP holding into a five-figure position.

    What 2,120 XRP Really Means

Holding 2,120 XRP puts a wallet in the top 10%, but it doesn’t mean the holder is among the wealthiest XRP owners. Most XRP addresses hold very little, so a relatively small balance can rank highly. At $1.39, 2,120 XRP costs less than $3,000.

More importantly,32,054 large wallets hold 74% of the XRP supply. That concentration matters more than the 2,120-XRP threshold when looking at who controls the supply. If new users keep opening wallets with small balances, the top 10% threshold could fall further without changing how much XRP the largest wallets control.

If those 32,054 wallets still hold roughly 74% of the supply, the big picture hasn’t changed. Your 2,120 XRP holding may sit near the top of the rankings, but it doesn’t mean the wallet represents a top 10% share of XRP wealth or influence.
