South Korea’s deputy prime minister and finance minister nominee Lee Hyoung-il said starting taxation on virtual assets in 2027 is unlikely to cause a bigger-than-expected shock, Edaily reported.
Speaking at a parliamentary confirmation hearing held today, Lee made the remarks after People Power Party lawmaker Kim Sang-hoon raised the need for a two-year delay in virtual asset taxation. Lee said additional consideration was still possible on crypto-related issues, but the National Assembly had already postponed implementation to 2027 after discussions in 2024, adding that it would be good for the matter to be discussed further at the subcommittee level.
