    Rhea-AI Summary

BTCS (BTCS) expanded its Imperium decentralized finance business onto Base, an Ethereum Layer-2 network created by Coinbase, marking Imperium’s first move beyond Ethereum mainnet.

Management said this multi-chain strategy is intended to generate scalable, high-margin revenue by allocating liquidity across multiple networks and assets where demand is strongest. Imperium’s paired liquidity pool assets have grown from approximately $8 million at the end of Q2 to about $36 million in Q3, positioning BTCS, in the CEO’s view, to exceed its $6 million gross profit target for 2026. BTCS is also evaluating additional Imperium strategies to further scale the business.

    “decentralized finance (“DeFi”) business line”
DeFi, short for decentralized finance, is a system of financial services built on blockchain technology that operates without traditional banks or intermediaries. It allows people to borrow, lend, trade, and earn interest directly with each other through digital platforms, much like using a peer-to-peer marketplace. For investors, DeFi offers the potential for greater access, transparency, and control over their financial activities.

    layer-2technical
“Base, an Ethereum Layer-2 network created by Coinbase”
A layer-2 is a secondary network built on top of a blockchain to handle transactions more quickly and cheaply while still relying on the original blockchain for security, like an express lane built beside a busy highway. For investors, layer-2s can lower transaction costs and increase user activity, which can boost demand for related tokens or projects, but they also introduce extra technical and operational risks that affect value and adoption.
    stablecoinsfinancial
“digital assets (currently ETH and stablecoins)”
Stablecoins are a type of digital currency designed to maintain a steady value, often linked to traditional currencies like the dollar or euro. They function like digital cash that offers the convenience of online transactions while avoiding the large price swings common with other cryptocurrencies. This stability makes them useful for investors and users who want a reliable way to store and transfer value without exposure to sudden market changes.
    liquidity provisioningfinancial
“liquidity provisioning, and other financial activities”
Liquidity provisioning is the act of making it easy for buyers and sellers to complete trades by keeping assets available to buy or sell quickly, often through market makers or trading programs. It matters to investors because it reduces big price swings and lowers the cost and time to execute trades—think of it as stores keeping popular items on the shelf so customers don’t have to wait or drive up the price.

Base Integration Marks Imperium’s First Expansion Beyond Ethereum Mainnet

WAYNE, Pa., Sept. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — BTCSInc. (Nasdaq:BTCS) (“BTCS” or the “Company”), short for Blockchain Technology Consensus Solutions, a company focused on decentralized finance and blockchain infrastructure operations, today announces that Imperium, the Company’s decentralized finance (“DeFi”) business line, has expanded onto Base, an Ethereum Layer-2 network created by Coinbase. Base runs on top of Ethereum and is designed to make transactions faster and cheaper, which has helped it become one of the most widely used blockchain networks.

“We continue to explore new opportunities that we believe can generate scalable high-margin revenue, and expanding Imperium into a multi-chain strategy is a clear example of that. Operating across multiple networks and assets lets us dynamically provide liquidity where volume and demand shift, and Base is our first step beyond Ethereum mainnet,”said Charles Allen, CEO of BTCS. “Imperium’s growth accelerated in the third quarter. We went from approximately $8 million
in assets deployed in paired liquidity pools (“LP”) at the end of Q2 to approximately $36 million
today. The growth of our paired LP assets puts us in a strong position to exceed our $6 million
gross profit target for the year
    .”

Launched in 2025, Imperium is BTCS’s DeFi business line, through which the Company generates revenue by actively deploying digital assets (currently ETH and stablecoins) into smart contract-based protocols that facilitate decentralized lending, borrowing, liquidity provisioning, and other financial activities. Rather than relying on a single approach, Imperium spans a range of evolving strategies. Unlike staking, which is primarily a yield play with protocol-set rewards and lock-up requirements, Imperium’s DeFi approach allows BTCS to dynamically allocate assets across protocols and networks based on prevailing market conditions, profit potential, and risk, positioning the Company to scale revenue and improve profitability.

“Base has grown into one of the largest Ethereum Layer-2 networks, with over $12 billion
in on-chain assets today. We continue to see strong transaction volume and rising demand on Base, and that scale and activity make it a compelling environment for Imperium to pursue high-margin revenue,” said Ben
Hunter, Chief Technology Officer of BTCS.

Integrating Base into Imperium’s operations extends the Company’s revenue-generating DeFi activities into an additional, widely used Ethereum Layer-2 ecosystem, further diversifying the Company’s footprint beyond Ethereum mainnet. The Company believes this integration supports its objective of driving high-margin, scalable revenue, as Imperium can generate and compound revenue across a broader set of opportunities. Base is one step in a broader roadmap: BTCS is actively evaluating additional strategies for Imperium that it believes may further scale the business.

BTCS Inc. (“BTCS” or the “Company”), short for Blockchain Technology Consensus Solutions, is a U.S.-based Ethereum-first blockchain technology company committed to driving scalable revenue and asset accumulation through its hallmark strategy, the DeFi/TradFi Accretion Flywheel, an integrated approach to capital formation and blockchain infrastructure. By combining decentralized finance (“DeFi”) and traditional finance (“TradFi”) mechanisms with its blockchain infrastructure operations, comprising NodeOps (staking), Builder+ (block building), and Imperium (DeFi deployments), BTCS offers a unique opportunity for blockchain exposure, driven by recurring on-chain revenue generation and an Ethereum-focused strategy. AI-generated questions and answers. How Rhea-AI works. Not financial advice.

What is Imperium and how does it generate revenue for BTCS?

Imperium is BTCS’s DeFi business line, launched in 2025. It generates revenue by deploying digital assets, currently ETH and stablecoins, into smart contract-based protocols that support decentralized lending, borrowing, liquidity provisioning, and other financial activities. The company said Imperium uses multiple evolving strategies rather than a single approach.

How does Imperium’s DeFi approach differ from staking within BTCS’s business model?

BTCS describes staking as mainly a yield strategy with protocol-set rewards and lock-up requirements. Imperium’s DeFi approach, by contrast, allows BTCS to dynamically allocate assets across protocols and networks based on market conditions, profit potential, and risk, aiming to scale revenue and improve profitability.

Why did BTCS choose Base as Imperium’s first network beyond Ethereum mainnet?

The company highlights that Base is an Ethereum Layer-2 network designed for faster, cheaper transactions and has grown to over $12 billion in on-chain assets with strong transaction volume and rising demand. BTCS views this scale and activity as a compelling environment for Imperium to pursue high-margin revenue.

What broader strategy does BTCS pursue around Imperium and multi-chain DeFi?

BTCS frames Imperium as part of its DeFi/TradFi Accretion Flywheel strategy, combining decentralized finance with traditional finance and its blockchain infrastructure operations (NodeOps, Builder+, and Imperium). The company is actively evaluating additional Imperium strategies and views Base as one step in a broader roadmap to further scale revenue and diversify beyond Ethereum mainnet.
