Bitcoin has recovered to approximately $78,100 as traders prepare for three central bank decisions and Tuesday’s U.S. Senate vote on crypto market legislation.

Federal Reserve’s official calendar shows policymakers will meet on Sept. 15 and 16, with their rate statement scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. Updated economic projections and Chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference will follow the announcement.

Bitcoin steadies near $78,100 before Fed decision

Bitcoin traded at $78,122 on Sept. 14, up 1.7% over 24 hours after falling as low as $76,439. The cryptocurrency reached an intraday high of $78,276 but remained below the $80,000 level that rejected several recent advances.

Ethereum gained 1.6% to $2,523.75 during the same period. XRP rose 4.5% to $1.40, while Filecoin recorded the strongest move among the tracked assets, climbing 23% to just over $1.

The Federal Open Market Committee enters its meeting with the federal funds target range at 3.50% to 3.75%. A quarter-point increase would lift the range to 3.75% to 4.00%, although the committee has not confirmed its decision.

Market expectations changed sharply after the latest U.S. inflation readings. Reuters reported on Monday that interest-rate markets assigned an 87% probability to a September increase.

Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan revised their forecasts to predict a 25-basis-point increase. JPMorgan expects another increase in December, while Goldman projects two reductions during 2027. Each forecast represents the bank’s view and does not indicate an agreed Federal Reserve policy.

Only days earlier, a Reuters poll showed nearly 70% of surveyed economists expecting officials to leave rates unchanged. August inflation data and higher energy costs drove several banks to change their calls before the meeting.

As previously reported, Bitcoin had recovered above $78,000 as September rate-hike odds reached 81% following the U.S. consumer price report. The probability has continued to move as traders adjust positions.

Fed decision will include new rate projections

Wednesday’s meeting will produce the Federal Reserve’s updated Summary of Economic Projections. The document contains officials’ forecasts for economic growth, unemployment, inflation and the federal funds rate.

Its rate projections are commonly called the dot plot because each participating official places a point beside their preferred rate level. The chart does not bind the committee to a particular course, and individual projections do not identify their authors.

Warsh’s press conference is scheduled to begin 30 minutes after the statement. Reporters are expected to ask how officials view persistent inflation, labor-market conditions and the path of borrowing costs after September.

U.S. retail sales and import-price data are due earlier Wednesday. Initial unemployment claims and the Philadelphia Federal Reserve’s manufacturing index arrive Thursday, followed by industrial production figures on Friday.

Crypto markets trade continuously through each release. Price changes occurring around the announcements can be measured, but timing alone does not prove that a single data point caused a move.

Earlier crypto.news coverage of rising Fed rate risk identified the $80,000 to $83,000 area as a closely watched Bitcoin resistance range. Bitcoin remained below the lower boundary on Monday.

BOE may hold while BOJ considers another increase

The Bank of England will announce its decision on Sept. 17. Its official website lists the current Bank Rate at 3.75%, while U.K. inflation stands at 2.9% against the central bank’s 2% target.

Economists surveyed by Reuters generally expect the Monetary Policy Committee to keep the rate at 3.75%. Goldman Sachs now predicts a quarter-point increase in November, having previously expected the central bank to wait longer.

Markets priced roughly 47 basis points of U.K. increases through the end of 2026, Reuters reported. Such pricing changes with trading activity and does not guarantee any outcome at Thursday’s meeting.

In Tokyo, Bank of Japan policymakers will meet on Sept. 17 and 18. The bank currently targets the overnight call rate at around 1%, following an increase approved in June.

Analysts cited by the Financial Times expect the BOJ to raise the rate by 25 basis points to 1.25%. A move to that level would produce Japan’s highest policy rate in 31 years, though the BOJ will not announce its decision until Friday.

In related coverage, the BOJ’s June increase to 1% drew attention from cryptocurrency traders. Bitcoin fell by roughly 3% within hours of an earlier January increase to 0.75%, according to market data cited in the report.

Past price performance does not establish how Bitcoin will respond this week. The reaction can depend on the decision, accompanying language, existing market positions and whether traders had already priced in the outcome.

CLARITY Act vote adds a U.S. policy event

Before the Fed statement, the Senate is expected to hold a procedural vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act on Sept. 15. The vote is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Eastern Time and requires 60 senators to advance the legislation.

Senators Cynthia Lummis, Tim Scott and John Boozman released their final text on Sept. 14. Their statement said the proposal would be offered as a substitute amendment if the Senate invokes cloture Tuesday.

Clearing the vote would begin formal consideration. It would not constitute final Senate approval, since lawmakers could debate the text, propose amendments and hold further procedural votes.

The 635-page proposal contains revised government ethics language and changes covering stablecoin rewards, decentralized finance rules and commodity regulation. Republicans described the text as their final offer to Democrats, while the level of bipartisan support remained uncertain Monday.

As crypto.news reported, the Sept. 15 CLARITY Act vote places multiple provisions at risk, including sections addressing presidential ethics, stablecoin rewards and decentralized protocols.

Any Senate amendments would require further action by the House before a final bill could reach President Donald Trump. The House has removed voting sessions scheduled for the weeks of Sept. 21 and Sept. 28, according to related coverage.

Following Tuesday’s Senate vote, the Federal Reserve will publish its decision Wednesday. The Bank of England follows Thursday, while the Bank of Japan will release its policy decision Friday before the Federal Reserve publishes August industrial production data.
