Bitcoin and Ether ETF flows diverge as Bitcoin funds see weekly outflows

    MentionedBTC$78,086.00+1.72%ETH$2,523.81+1.61%

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a sharp weekly reversal, posting $462.7 million in net outflows last week after three consecutive weeks of inflows.

Ether ETFs moved in the opposite direction, attracting nearly $197 million over the same four-day trading period.

The divergence highlights a notable shift in institutional ETF demand as Bitcoin funds faced sustained selling while Ether products ended the week with a strong inflow.

    Bitcoin ETFs Extend Outflow Streak

According to Farside Investors, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded outflows on every trading day from Tuesday through Friday.

The reversal came after Bitcoin ETFs had enjoyed their strongest three-week inflow run of 2026. The funds lost $166.8 million during the first two sessions of the holiday-shortened week.

Selling accelerated on Thursday, when Bitcoin ETFs recorded $282.7 million in net outflows, marking their largest single-day withdrawal since July.

Friday brought some relief, but the funds still lost another $13.2 million, extending the outflow streak to four consecutive sessions.

ARKB, GBTC and IBIT Lead Weekly Outflows

ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF recorded the largest weekly withdrawal at $234.2 million.

Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust ETF followed with $129.1 million, while BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF recorded $52.5 million in outflows.

Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund also saw withdrawals of approximately $50.7 million.

Despite the reversal, Bitcoin ETFs remain in positive territory for September. Through Friday, the funds had recorded approximately $307.3 million in cumulative net inflows.

That suggests the latest selling has not completely erased the month’s institutional demand.

Ether ETFs Move in the Opposite Direction

U.S. spot Ether ETFs attracted $196.9 million in net inflows over the same four-day period

The week began with mixed activity. Ether funds recorded $24.3 million in outflows on Tuesday, followed by $34.7 million in inflows on Wednesday and another $29.9 million in outflows on Thursday.

    Friday changed the picture dramatically.

Ether ETFs attracted $216.4 million, more than offsetting the previous three sessions and pushing the entire week into positive territory.

    BlackRock’s ETHA Drives Friday Demand

BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust ETF led Friday’s inflows with $148.8 million.

The 21Shares Core Ethereum ETF followed with another $29.1 million.

The strong Friday inflow suggests institutional demand for Ether remained resilient even as Bitcoin funds faced significant withdrawals.

The divergence between the two ETF markets could become an important trend if it continues in the coming sessions.

Bitcoin and Ether ETF Demand Diverges

The latest figures show a clear contrast in institutional flows.

Bitcoin ETFs experienced their first weekly reversal after three consecutive weeks of inflows, while Ether ETFs finished the week strongly positive.

However, one week does not establish a longer-term trend. Bitcoin ETFs remain in positive territory for September, and Ether’s weekly gain was heavily concentrated in Friday’s inflow.

The next few trading sessions will therefore be important in determining whether investors are temporarily rotating toward Ether or whether Bitcoin ETF demand is beginning to weaken more broadly.

For now, Bitcoin ETFs are facing renewed selling pressure while BlackRock-led demand keeps Ether funds in positive territory.
