Taylor Lindman, who served as deputy general counsel at blockchain middleware firm Chainlink Labs, has been appointed as chief counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Crypto Task Force. His appointment fills a vacancy left by Michael Selig, who departed the role in December 2025 to become chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Chainlink Labs confirmed Lindman’s departure on X, thanking him for five years of service and expressing support for the broader goal of modernizing the U.S. financial system. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, who leads theCrypto Task Force, also confirmed the appointment and publicly expressed confidence in Lindman’s contributions to the role.
Lindman spent more than five years at Chainlink Labs across several positions, including associate general counsel and deputy general counsel. During his time there, he was responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. and international regulations.
He was also part of a delegation that met directly with the Crypto Task Force in March 2025 to discuss crypto regulation, including token taxonomy and securities record-keeping requirements. Before his time at Chainlink, Lindman was an associate at Perkins Coie from 2018 to 2021 and at Debevoise & Plimpton from 2016 to 2018, giving him a decade of legal experience across blockchainand traditional financial law.
A chief counsel serves as the senior legal advisor, guiding legal interpretation, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and supporting leadership decision-making. The Crypto Task Force was established following a policy shift under the Trump administration.
Commissioner Peirce announced the original 14-member task force in March 2025. The lineup included several crypto industry veterans alongside staff drawn from the chair’s office and other SEC divisions. Landon Zinda, former policy director at Coin Center, serves as a senior advisor, and Veronica Reynolds, who previously worked as an associate at Baker Hostetler’s digital assets and Web3 practice group, also holds a senior advisor role.
Since its formation, the SEC Crypto Task Force has held roundtable events and conducted outreach sessions to gather feedback from the crypto industry, academics, and market participants on digital asset regulation. Lindman’s appointment signals continued efforts to bring industry-experienced legal expertise into the regulatory process
