About 40 traditional financial institutions and crypto industry groups, including Nasdaq, Boerse Stuttgart, the French Digital Asset Association, the European Ethereum Institute (EEI) and the Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI), have submitted a letter to the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union calling for the EU to scrap its proposed issuance and trading caps for securities token platforms or raise them sharply to at least 1.5 trillion euros, CoinDesk reported.
The European Commission is pursuing an amendment that would raise the trading and holding limit for tokenized securities platforms under its distributed ledger technology pilot regime to 100 billion euros from 6 billion euros in a bid to increase participation. The industry coalition argued the cap would still severely restrict market growth, noting that major tokenization projects in Europe already total around 350 billion euros.
