$TRX, the native token of the Tron blockchain, will appear as a U.S.-listed exchange-traded fund (ETF) later Wednesday, giving investors in the world’s largest economy a way of buying exposure to the eighth-largest cryptocurrency without needing to be familiar with crypto processes.
Tron is widely used for stablecoin transfers, and hosts the largest supply of USDT, the biggest dollar-pegged token by market capitalization.
The Canary Staked $TRX ETF will debut on Cboe under the ticker TRXS. Tron founder Justin Sun said the fund gives investors a new way to access the network.
“The launch of the Canary Staked $TRX ETF demonstrates the growing recognition of the TRON network as critical infrastructure for the global digital economy and provides institutional investors with a new way to access a network that is already powering real-world financial activity at scale,” Sun said in a statement.
ETFs trade on an exchange like stocks. Investors can buy and sell shares for exposure to the underlying crypto without holding the token themselves. The fund buys and holds the asset and shareholders get indirect exposure through the shares.
That wrapper has become a preferred route for institutions. What sets TRXS apart from a spot product is the staking feature. The fund is designed to hold $TRX and lock most of it into Tron’s proof-of-stake system to earn rewards. Those returns are not paid out as cash, instead they stay inside the fund and lift its net asset value. That gives shareholders price exposure plus a share of network yield without wallets or validator setup.
$TRX has a market cap of about $32.17 billion The token is up about 19% so far this year, on track for a fourth straight year of gains. It rose roughly 13% in 2025 and posted much larger advances in 2023 and 2024. Bitcoin, by contrast, fell about 6% in 2025 and is down about 9% year to date
In broader market action, several smaller tokens, including ATOM and ZEC, have jumped about 8% or more over 24 hours. Bitcoin bounced toward $79,700 early Wednesday before easing to the mid-$79,000s. Meanwhile, oil is trading at a three-month high.
