Bitcoin Price Faces $82K Test as Analysts Warn of Another Drop

In the crypto market on Sept. 6, bitcoin traded near $79,826 after failing to clear $82,000 resistance and an intraday high of about $80,106, leaving $78,500 as key short-term support and Fibonacci support around $76,915. Exchange flow data showed average net inflows of +593 BTC daily (up 132% week-on-week) with Binance (CEX) absorbing +1,148 BTC daily and stablecoin netflows rising to +$22.1M from $4.4M, while $168.7M of Bitcoin options expired Sept. 6 with put-to-call open interest near 0.99, signaling mixed demand and limited confirmation for a sustained breakout.

    Key Insights

    • Bitcoin price stayed below $82,000 resistance, limiting breakout confirmation.
    • Exchange inflows increased while Binance stablecoin liquidity expanded sharply.
    • Traders watched $78,500 support before targeting the $83,000–$84,000 zone.

Bitcoin price traded near $79,826 on Sept. 6, remaining below the $82,000 resistance area. TradingView data showed BTC failed to hold an earlier move above $80,000.

The setup kept the price of Bitcoin inside a broad recovery range after August’s advance. Analysts focused on whether buyers could reclaim $82,000 or lose nearby support around $78,500.

Bitcoin Price Holds Below $82,000 Resistance

TradingView’s Bitstamp chart showed Bitcoin near $79,826 at 07:42 UTC on Sept. 6. The session opened around $79,830 and reached an intraday high near $80,106.

The same chart showed an intraday low around $79,600 before BTC recovered modestly. Binance Market Data earlier placed BTC at $80,067.44 at 01:40 UTC.

That Binance reading represented a 0.56% gain over the previous 24 hours. However, later TradingView pricing showed sellers had pushed BTC back below $80,000.

Binance’s Sept. 5 market update showed a wider $78,660 to $81,423 trading range. That range kept $82,000 outside the confirmed breakout zone.

Kaz wrote that Sunday sessions often produce short-lived volatility before regular liquidity returns. He expected another intraday move before Monday’s Asia session. That structure left bulls without a weekly breakout signal despite August’s recovery.

Bitcoin Price Technical Structure Keeps $82,000 in Focus

TradingView data placed Bitcoin’s recent swing high near $81,455, compared with an August low around $62,218.

Fibonacci retracement levels placed initial downside support near $76,915. Deeper levels appeared around $74,106, $71,835, $69,565, and $66,333.

The structure showed BTC holding above the 0.236 retracement level after August’s rally. However, the market had not cleared the upper resistance band.

Mister Crypto wrote that Bitcoin remained below the $74,000-$82,000 resistance zone. He said a weekly close above that area would improve the broader structure.

His assessment treated the current move as resistance until buyers proved otherwise. That view aligned with the chart’s repeated failures around the upper range.

A sustained break above $82,000 would place the recent swing high behind buyers. Failure there could keep the price of Bitcoin exposed to retracement levels below.

Bitcoin Price Faces Mixed Exchange Flow Signals

CryptoQuant contributor CryptoOnchain reported average exchange netflows of +593 BTC daily over seven sessions. That figure increased 132% from the previous week.

Binance absorbed an average of +1,148 BTC daily during the same period. CryptoOnchain also recorded a +2,537 BTC Binance inflow on Sept. 1.

Coinbase, meanwhile, showed average outflows of 357 BTC daily. OKX and Bybit recorded smaller positive netflows during the measured period.

The data showed coins moving across several exchanges rather than a single venue. CryptoOnchain described the shift as broader supply movement across trading venues.

CryptoOnchain also reported Binance stablecoin netflows averaging +$22.1 million daily. That measure increased from a $4.4 million daily average.

The combination showed additional BTC supply alongside larger stablecoin purchasing capacity. CryptoOnchain said similar conditions often favored absorption and continued ranging.

The Coinbase Premium Indexclosed at negative 0.05 on Sept. 1. CryptoOnchain said a move above zero would strengthen the demand case.

PerpFinder’s Deribit data showed $168.7 million of Bitcoin options open interest expiring Sept. 6. Put-to-call open interest stood near 0.99 before settlement.

That balance showed almost equal put and call positioning for the expiry. It offered little directional confirmation alongside mixed exchange-flow data.

BTC Crypto Traders Watch $78,500 and $84,000

Kaz wrote that he expected a possible weekend push toward $80,500 or $80,800. He then watched for a rejection toward $78,500.

    Source: X

That level would become his preferred area for continuation longs. His upside targets sat between $83,000 and $84,000 if support held.

The scenario remained conditional and represented one trader’s market thesis. It did not confirm that BTC would follow that path.

Near-term structure, therefore, centers on $78,500 support and the $82,000 resistance area. A weekly close above resistance would provide stronger technical confirmation.

A break below $78,500 would shift attention toward the $76,915 Fibonacci level. Traders will next watch Sunday liquidity and Monday’s Asia session for confirmation.
