Waller’s Rate-Hold Signal Fuels Bitcoin’s $82,000 Breakout
Bull Theory flagged on X that Bitcoin cleared $82,000 for the first time since May 11 with $510 million in shorts liquidated over 24 hours.
The catalyst was Fed Governor Christopher Wallersignaling support for holding rates at the Sep. 15 meeting, removing one of the key headwinds weighing on risk assets through the week.
What On-Chain Data Shows
CryptoQuant analyst PelinayPA noted that whales are not showing signs of taking profits at current levels, with the Exchange Whale Ratio falling to 0.39, meaning large holders are sending less Bitcoin to exchanges than before.
Profit and loss indicators show investors are generally in profit but the market has not yet reached extreme optimism, leaving room for further upside if selling pressure stays contained.
What Fidelity’s Outlook Adds
Fidelity Digital Assets VP of Research Chris Kuipernoted that Bitcoin prices sat at the low end of historical valuations from June to mid-August, with sellers appearing exhausted.
When the late August surge arrived, Bitcoin posted its largest green month since November 2024, Ethereum(CRYPTO: ETH) climbed 34.1%, and Solana(CRYPTO: SOL) gained 28%.
Kuiper pointed out that events which would normally have pressured prices lower, including a hardware wallet security incident and the Clarity Act stalling, had no meaningful impact, strengthening the case that crypto may be near a bottom.
BTC Price Prediction Today
BTC holds flat on Friday, consolidating at the upper rail of the ascending channel after Thursday’s 5% surge.
A clean break above $81,400 opens fresh highs while a pullback toward $79,600 would be a healthy retest rather than a reversal.
