As El Reno officials say they have reached out to the owners of the <a href="https://xpertsstudio.com/bitcoin-price-predictions-pit-400k-bulls-against-10k-bears/” title=”Bitcoin Price Predictions Pit $400K Bulls Against $10K Bears”>Bitcoin mining facility at the center of the city’s massive water leak, rumors continue to swirl about who those owners actually are—and News 4 set out to find answers
Tuesday, the same man News 4 first encountered at the property last week was back out at the site of Athlon Blockchain Technology LLC’s Bitcoin mining facility—this time with a crew and a moving truck.
Last week, the man had little interest in answering questions.
“Oh, zero f*cks. Okay,” he said.
Tuesday was no different.
“You know this isn’t public property?” he said when News 4 approached.
The city has since condemned the property after a private water line on it leaked more than three million gallons of the city’s water—and issued an abatement notice.
News 4 previously reported the city issued a stop-work order on the property three years ago—but Athlon built on it and began operating anyway.
City leaders told News 4, according to their records, Athlon is based out of Palo Alto, California.
But before Athlon abruptly took its website down this week, it listed the El Reno address of the Bitcoin mining facility as its world headquarters.
County property records, meanwhile, list Athlon as based out of an El Reno house it owns just a couple miles up the road.
When News 4 went to that house, it looked abandoned—the driveway overgrown with weeds, packages piling up on the front porch and cobwebs growing on the front door.
“I noticed the yard was getting out of control and I’m like, whoa, I don’t think there’s anybody living here,” said next-door neighbor Cameron Murphy.
Murphy says he has seldom seen signs of life since moving in next door.
“One day the city had come by and I guess they were going to mow it down,” Murphy said. “And the next day after that, I seen a gentleman that lived here for one day, and after that I never seen him again.”
Those packages on the porch were addressed to someone named Tony Shi—who Athlon’s website used to list as its founder and CEO.
Murphy recognized him.
“That looks exactly like him,” Murphy said, looking at Shi’s photo from Athlon’s website. “He was actually doing some yard work. And there’s some trash bags out there, and he left those bags, went inside, and I’ve never seen him since.”
News 4 found his full name is Tony Jiang Shi—a Stanford University graduate living in Palo Alto, California, where he has registered several other LLCs he mostly uses to develop real estate.
News 4 tried calling Shi again Monday. Still no answer.
“Do you know Tony?” News 4 asked the man at the site Tuesday.
No answer.
Athlon’s website also used to list a man named Wolfgang Muller as its chief strategy officer.
Muller is the founder of F2O Sports—a Silicon Valley tech startup described as giving European soccer fans a way to become part owners of their favorite teams by selling them a “security token,” a digital asset built on blockchain technology, the same type of technology behind cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
The service only allows people to invest in one team based out of a small city in Portugal—and for several years it has listed more teams as “coming soon,” though that hasn’t happened yet.
News 4 has not been able to find a working phone number for Muller.
Athlon’s site also listed a man named Raghib Hussain as its sole advisory board member—the CEO of a Silicon Valley tech firm and founder of several others.
Like Shi and Muller, Hussain is also a graduate of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
