Strategy sold about 6,916 Bitcoin last summer and recently bought back 4,603 of them at a higher price, crypto analytics firm Santiment said.
Santiment wrote on X on Sept. 1 that Strategy sold about 6,916 BTC for $432.5 million after June 22. The average sale price was about $62,500 per Bitcoin.
The company then spent $369.7 million to buy 4,603 BTC from Aug. 24 through Aug. 30. The average purchase price was $80,318, or about $17,800 more per Bitcoin than the earlier average sale price. It was Strategy’s first purchase since June 22.
Santiment described the move as selling during the downturn and buying again during the recovery.
Strategy now holds 845,050 Bitcoin in total, with an average acquisition price of $75,412. Based on the Aug. 31 closing price, the unrealized gain on those holdings was about 3.6%, Santiment said.
