Bitcoin price faced a key test after Bitcoin futures open interest rose 18.66% in 24 hours. The rise showed stronger futures activity as traders watched the $76,000 area after BTC price was rejected near $81,500, with analysts pointing to key support and a possible recovery soon in the days ahead.
Bitcoin Futures Open Interest Rises as Traders Take Positions
Bitcoin futures open interest recorded an 18.66% increase over the past 24 hours, according to the data shared from Coinalyze. The move brought total open interest across the tracked Bitcoin contracts to about $24.7 billion.
The data showed a clear difference between futures and perpetual contracts. Futures open interest stood at about $1.3 billion and posted a 18.66% daily increase. Perpetual contracts, which accounted for about $23.4 billion, recorded a 1.44% decline over the same period. Overall open interest was down 0.57%.
This suggests that the rise in futures activity did not come from the entire derivatives market. Instead, the greatest change came from futures contracts as traders added positions while the wider market remained active.
The chart also showed aggregated open interest declining as Bitcoin price traded around the $77,000 level. BTC had fallen sharply from levels above $80,000 before finding some stability around the current area.

The increase in futures activity is significant because changes in open interest can show how much money is entering or leaving derivatives positions. In this case, the rise in futures open interest came as traders continued to watch the market after the recent decline.
Another post pointed to positive funding rates, with long positions still leading. However, funding was described as being well below earlier overheated levels. This meant bullish positioning had increased without reaching the level of market excitement seen during stronger rallies.
Bitcoin Price Faces Support After $81,500 Rejection
The recent Bitcoin price move has left traders focused on the support area between $74,000 and $75,000. Analyst Ted said BTC price had faced a sharp rejection from the $81,500 level. Following that move, the $74,000 to $75,000 zone was identified as the next major support area that could be tested.

The view was that Bitcoin could resume its uptrend if this support holds. This makes the zone important in the current Bitcoin price analysis, as a successful defense could give buyers room to push the market higher again.
Another analyst offered a similar view but placed greater focus on the lower end of the current range. According to the post, Bitcoin had price respected the marked levels before the sell-off. The analyst said the market could recover if the lower range remained protected.
At the time of the analysis, the $75,000 to $76,000 range was treated as an important line. A break below that range could expose Bitcoin to another move toward $72,000 to $71,000.
BTC Price Needs to Hold Key Levels
The latest Bitcoin price action has therefore created two clear areas for traders to watch. The first is the $76,000 to $75,000 range, while the second is lower, around $72,000 to $71,000.
A hold above the first zone could support a recovery and give BTC price another chance to move toward the higher levels it recently lost. However, a break below it could increase pressure and bring the lower support area into focus.
The same Bitcoin price analysis also placed importance on the $70,000 level. The analyst said the market outlook would remain focused on long positions as long as Bitcoin stayed above that level, with clear points at which the view would no longer hold.
For now, the rise in futures open interest adds another factor to the market as traders position around these levels. Positive funding also indicates that bullish positions remain, although the funding rate has not yet reached earlier extreme levels.
The key question is whether Bitcoin can defend support after the rejection near $81,500. If buyers hold the lower range, the Bitcoin price could attempt another recovery. If support fails, BTC price could face a deeper pullback toward the $72,000 to $71,000 area.
