XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) reached $1.68 on August 22, its highest price in seven months, before dropping to $1.38 today. Over the last ten days, the coin has swung wildly in both directions, but buyers remain in control in August with a 30% gain.
XRP trades roughly 64.1% below its $3.84 ATH and needs a 178.3% rally to get there. But that move is difficult because XRP hasn’t delivered that kind of return since the 281.7% rally in November 2024. With buyers still in control, here’s what XRP needs to reclaim its $.3.84 all-time high.
XRP Must First Break Through These Key Price Levels
XRP’s historical price performanceshows that a move to $3.84 is possible, but getting there requires the coin to climb through several layers of resistance. XRP’s immediate battle is near its current price level, with a key resistance zone forming between $1.40 and $1.50. This area is critical because sellers have been active around it, with XRP yet to sustain a break above this zone after every rally attempt so far in 2026. A decisive move above it could open the door to $1.53, followed by a more significant test around $1.59.
XRP faces what could become an even tougher challenge around $1.65 to $1.70, a level that marks both XRP’s one-month and 13-week high. This is currently a ceiling buyers have struggled to hold, and momentum indicators suggest the rally could face increased selling pressure around this area, particularly after XRP’s sharp gains over the past week.
IfXRPholds $1.70, it would significantly improve the coin’s chances of extending its recovery. Sustaining above $1.70 opens the door to $1.83, $2.09, and $2.35, but these are major retracement zones and could trigger selling as traders take profits. However, if buyers can push XRP through these three levels, it could set the stage for a rally toward its 52-week high near $3.18, a 130.4% move from today.
Reclaiming $3.18 would bring XRP closer to its all-time high of $3.84, although the coin would still need to hold above $3 and mount another strong rally to reach it. However, for XRP to reach these resistance levels quickly, buyers must defend the recent recovery by holding the support around $1.33 to $1.36. Losing it could weaken XRP’s momentum and push the coin toward $1.20, putting the current rally at risk.
The Catalysts That Could Push XRP Back to $3.84
XRP’s rally to $3.84 could depend on how these two catalysts play out. They could help the coin break above key resistance levels and keep it from losing its key support level.
The CLARITY Act
One of XRP’s biggest catalysts is theCLARITY Act, a crypto market bill that could provide clearer rules for tokens like XRP. The Senate went into recess on August 8 without holding a full vote on the bill, prompting Senate Majority Leader John Thune to file a cloture motion. A cloture motion is a procedural step that limits debate and moves a bill closer to a final vote.
With XRP reacting strongly to past regulatory developments, the cloture vote set for September 15 could be important for its next major move. The motion needs 60 votes to pass, which may prove difficult as Galaxy Research expects some Republicans to oppose it, increasing the number of Democratic votes needed for the motion to succeed.
If the motion passes, it could clear the way for a full Senate vote and give XRP another boost toward $2. A full floor vote weeks later could strengthen the case for a rally to $3.84.
ETF Inflows
ETF inflowsare another factor that could drive XRP’s price to $3. Recent data from SoSoValue shows that XRP ETF cumulative inflows have reached $1.64 billion, with the funds recording eight consecutive days of daily inflows since August 18.
Inflows in August currently stand at $127.34 million, just a few million dollars below the record in May, at $131.94. If XRP ETFs pull in around $100 million monthly, this sustained demand could squeeze available supply and help XRP hold above key resistance levels.
Is a Return to $3.84 Realistic for XRP?
XRP could realistically reach $3.84, but it is a difficult target because the token has not broken that level in more than eight years. The coin needs to maintain bullish momentum, break through several major resistance levels where sellers are active, and attract enough buying pressure, which potentially requires a strong catalyst like the CLARITY Act becoming law before the year ends.
The good news for bulls is that XRP has delivered triple-digit gains before, as seen in November 2024 when XRP gained 281.7%, and in January and April 2021 when it gained 122.1% and 174.1%, respectively.
However, past performance does not guarantee that it can repeat these gains, especially with several resistance levels standing between its current price and $3.84.
