MassMutual Ventures (MMV) has launched Climate Technology Fund II (CTF II), a $150 million venture fund targeting early-stage climate technology and AI companies focused on real assets. The new vehicle follows MMV’s first Climate Technology Fund, launched in 2023, and brings the firm’s total climate tech commitments to $300 million.
CTF II will back North America-based startups developing physical and digital technologies that help owners and operators of real assets — including energy infrastructure, real estate, and natural restrategy targets the intersection of rising demand for clean and reliable energy, increasing physical and operational risks across asset-heavy sectors, and growing adoption of industry-specific AI
The new fund builds on MMV’s initial Climate Technology Fund, which has invested in 16 companies across clean power, energy systems, digital infrastructure, and climate adaptation. MMV says its approach centers on thesis-driven investing, deep sector research, and active engagement with founders operating in large, asset-intensive markets.

He added that commercialization in this space requires “deep sector expertise, connections to asset owners and operators, and customized capital solutions.”
MMV positions CTF II around translating climate and AI technologies into measurable economic value for asset owners and operators, leveraging both its internal climate and energy expertise and MassMutual’s broader investing footprint. “Climate investing is evolving from broad thematic exposure toward specialized strategies that understand where technology creates tangible value in large, complex industries,” said Doug Russell, head of MassMutual Ventures.
MassMutual Ventures is a multistage venture firm investing globally across fintech, enterprise SaaS, healthtech, climate technology, and cybersecurity. The Climate Technology Fund strategy targets companies that measure, mitigate, or manage the effects of climate change, with a focus on energy systems, digital infrastructure, real estate, and natural re
