Coinbase News: Crypto Group Backs 32 U.S. Midterm Candidates
Key Insights:
- Coinbase news centered on 32 House endorsements before the U.S. midterms.
- Stand With Crypto targeted lawmakers with pro-digital asset voting records.
- Senate procedure kept the CLARITY Act tied to election politics.
Stand With Crypto endorsed 32 incumbent House candidates on Aug. 24 ahead of the November 2026 midterms. The Coinbase-backed group targeted lawmakers who supported digital-asset legislation, Reuters reported. The move put Coinbase news back into Washington’s election debate as crypto policy remained active in Congress.

The endorsements mattered because the next Congress could determine federal crypto market-structure rules. Stand With Crypto had already built its campaign around voter mobilization and candidate scoring. The group said its network had grown beyond three million registered advocates, Reuters reported.
Coinbase had supported Stand With Crypto since its 2023 launch. Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad described it as an independent advocacy group focused on legislative engagement. The company later committed another $25 million to Fairshake for the 2026 election cycle.
Coinbase News: Stand With Crypto Backs 32 House Members for Reelection
Reuters reported that Stand With Crypto backed 32 sitting House members for reelection. The slate included Republicans Tom Emmer and Bill Huizenga. Democrats Ritchie Torres and Josh Gottheimer also received endorsements.
Stand With Crypto said it selected lawmakers with records supporting digital-asset policy. It also targeted competitive races where its registered advocates could influence turnout. Executive Director Mason Lynaugh said crypto voters could affect close congressional races.
The Aug. 24 endorsements expanded a program launched in March. Stand With Crypto initially endorsed six House candidates from both major parties. Its March announcement also identified eight competitive districts for targeted voter activity.
The group said its scoring process considered public statements, legislative history, and candidate questionnaire responses. That approach tied endorsements directly to recorded policy positions rather than party affiliation. Senate endorsements were expected closer to Election Day.
Coinbase News Connects Endorsements to CLARITY Vote
House Clerk records showed the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act passed on July 17, 2025. Lawmakers approved H.R. 3633 by a 294–134 vote. The tally included 216 Republicans and 78 Democrats voting in favor.
Congressional records described the bill as a framework for regulating digital commodities. It assigned oversight roles to the Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The House vote gave the proposal bipartisan support, but did not complete the legislative process.
Many endorsed lawmakers had supported the measure before Stand With Crypto announced Monday’s slate. That voting record gave the group a clear policy test for evaluating incumbents. The endorsement strategy, therefore, linked electoral activity with unfinished market-structure legislation.
The story also widened beyond ordinary crypto news as election spending increased. Reuters estimated crypto-industry political spending at nearly $200 million during the current cycle. Fairshake and its affiliated committees accounted for much of that political funding.
Senate Procedure Keeps Crypto Policy in Focus
The Senate had not completed action on H.R. 3633 by Aug. 24. Senate scheduling records showed lawmakers remained in a state work period through Sept. 11. The chamber was scheduled to reconvene Sept. 14.
Senate Democratic scheduling records showed cloture on the motion to proceed would ripen Sept. 15 at 2:15 p.m. That procedural step could determine whether senators move toward formal consideration. It would not, by itself, constitute final passage.
The timing left limited floor space before lawmakers returned to campaigning. The Senate’s tentative calendar listed another state work period beginning Oct. 5. That compressed schedule increased the political relevance of the midterm endorsements.
Stand With Crypto’s campaign also reflected a broader institutional push around federal rules. Its March program emphasized battleground districts and voter education. The group said candidate grades would remain tied to documented crypto-policy positions throughout the election cycle.
Coinbase News Faces Next Senate Test
Coinbase’s political strategy had already extended beyond Stand With Crypto. In October 2024, the exchange said it would donate $25 million to Fairshake. It also backed efforts to expand Stand With Crypto’s membership before the 2026 midterms.
That support connected corporate policy spending, grassroots organizing, and congressional voting records. However, the advocacy group remained separate from Coinbase. Coinbase described Stand With Crypto as an independent grassroots organization when discussing its support.
The next verifiable milestone arrives Sept. 15, when the Senate’s CLARITY cloture motion is scheduled to ripen. That vote will test whether market-structure legislation can advance before the November midterms.
