Ethereum developers have proposed an upgrade for a quantum-resistant deposit contract to address potential threats from quantum computing.
The proposal, published on GitHub, includes introducing cryptographic scheme identifiers and variable public keys to support multiple signature systems. It also calls for applying next-generation cryptography to address security weaknesses in the signature scheme used for existing staking and for significantly improving system efficiency. In addition, the proposal recommends phasing out older signature methods and pursuing a full transition to a quantum-resistant security framework.
