DB Securities has taken on the title sponsorship of “Ethereum Korea One: Genesis,” set to take place in Seoul on September 28–29. This marks the first time a South Korean securities firm has served as title sponsor of an Ethereum conference. On the first day at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, approximately 300 institutional stakeholders will discuss STO policy and business developments ahead of South Korea’s token securities regime slated for 2027. Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, BitMine Chairman Tom Lee, and representatives from Franklin Templeton, Ondo Finance, and Securitize are among the featured speakers. The second day will focus on technical discussions centered on the builder community in Seongsu. The consortium has expanded from 10 to 13 participating companies.

DB Securities Becomes First Title Sponsor of Ethereum Conference… Accelerating STO Drive

This marks the first time a South Korean securities firm has served as title sponsor of an Ethereum ecosystem conference. DB Securities is stepping up as title sponsor of “Ethereum Korea One: Genesis,” taking place in Seoul from the 28th to the 29th of next month, with CEO Kwak Bong-seok delivering the opening keynote on the first day.

The event is a follow-up to “Ethereum Korea One” held in April, scaled up into a flagship conference centered on Ethereum. It is hosted by the Ethereum Korea Consortium, with the first day structured as an institutional conference targeting regulated finance, and the second day focused on the builder community, including researchers and developers.

On the first day, the 28th, approximately 300 guests from banks, asset managers, securities firms, and policy circles will be invited to the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul. Sessions, a dinner, and networking will run from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., covering tokenization, custody, staking, real-world assets (RWA), and the on-chain transformation of regulated finance as key agenda items.

In particular, with South Korea’s token securities (STO) regime set to take effect in 2027, the STO policies and business progress of domestic and international financial firms will be a core focus of discussion. The event will examine STO business developments at Franklin Templeton and DB Securities, while the Ethereum Foundation will address Ethereum’s role as on-chain infrastructure.

Global speakers include Joseph Lubin, Ethereum co-founder and founder of Consensys, and Tom Lee, chairman of the board at BitMine, the world’s largest Ethereum treasury company. Consensys is the developer of the crypto wallet MetaMask. Also taking the stage are Joseph Shalom, co-CEO of SharpLink and former head of digital asset strategy at BlackRock; Chetan Karkhanis, senior vice president at Franklin Templeton; Min Lin, head of global business development at Ondo Finance; and Adrian Lee, head of Asia-Pacific policy at the Ethereum Foundation.

Key figures representing the Ethereum scaling ecosystem will also participate in large numbers. Kyle Jenke, chief business officer at Optimism, and Ed Felten, co-founder of Offchain Labs, the developer of Arbitrum, are among the listed speakers. Institutional representatives from overseas firms including Securitize and Lido will also attend.

DB Securities’ level of involvement is exceptional. Beyond serving as title sponsor, CEO Kwak Bong-seok will deliver the opening keynote on the first day, Lee Ju-sik, head of the digital asset business team, will speak on the first day, and CFO Jang Hyun-il will present on the second day. Team leader Lee said, “This will be an opportunity to advance our STO business in line with South Korean guidelines while continuing organic collaboration with the Optimism Foundation overseas.”

From South Korea’s financial sector, speakers include Park Jae-man, head of KB Securities’ AI & Digital Division; Jang Han-eol, head of digital asset business at Kyobo Securities; and Choi Yoon-young, head of digital asset research at Hanwha Investment & Securities.

On the second day, the 29th, the event will be held at Informal Square in Seongsu, centered on the builder community of researchers and developers. Participants include developers from the Ethereum Foundation, representatives from global Ethereum conferences EthCC, Uniswap, Compound, and Lido, the development team behind Dunamu’s blockchain “Giwa,” and research labs from Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and POSTECH. Technical discussions will cover protocols, open source, Layer 1 and Layer 2, zero-knowledge proofs (ZK), account abstraction (AA), and DeFi.

The Ethereum Korea Consortium, which organizes the event, is a private coalition that received an Ecosystem Support Program (ESP) grant from the Ethereum Foundation. Its goal is to connect South Korean institutions and policy stakeholders with the global Ethereum ecosystem.

The consortium has also expanded. From 10 companies at its launch in April, it has grown to 13, with new members Altus, Optimum, and Lambda256 — all blockchain infrastructure firms serving institutional clients. Lambda256 is Dunamu’s blockchain technology subsidiary. Industry observers note that the consortium’s scope is broadening from a developer- and research-centric focus to include institutional-grade infrastructure.

New member companies, along with DSRV and Ethereum Layer 2 Optimism, are also participating as sponsors of this event.

While South Korean financial firms have previously participated in blockchain and digital asset events as speakers or sponsors, this is the first time a securities firm has stepped to the forefront as title sponsor of an Ethereum ecosystem event. This is interpreted as a signal that South Korea’s securities industry views STO as a next-generation growth engine and has begun serious business preparations.
