Bitcoin has experienced a significant increase, soaring over 4 per cent during early trading hours in Asia on Friday. The cryptocurrency reached an impressive peak of $75,740 by 10 a.m. in Singapore, marking a notable continuation of its upward trend that began earlier in the week. This surge comes in the wake of the United States Treasury’s announcement regarding measures aimed at reducing long-term bond yields.

The current upswing builds upon a remarkable increase over the previous days, following Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s declaration that the department would expand the scale of its bond buyback programme. As a result, Bitcoin has appreciated nearly 20 per cent during the week.

Broader enthusiasm within the cryptocurrency market has also been fuelled by a recent meeting between President Donald Trump and notable leaders in the industry, including executives from Coinbase Global Inc. and Payward Inc. During this meeting, President Trump urged the Senate to advance the Clarity Act, a proposed framework aimed at establishing a regulatory structure for the cryptocurrency market, which has faced delays due to disputes over ethical provisions.

Matthew Sigel, who heads digital assets research at VanEck, provided insight into the market’s reaction, noting, “This price reaction isn’t about the US Clarity Act, which many in the market are pointing to. This is about what the US Treasury has done, which is reigniting fears of fiscal dominance.”

The unfolding developments in the United States are expected to impact the cryptocurrency landscape significantly as investors respond to these regulatory and economic changes. As the market continues to evolve, many will be observing closely how these dynamics unfold in the coming weeks.
